Mental Health Services at Providence Alaska Medical Center follow a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment and rehabilitation. All programs are headed by physicians and offer treatment that deals with the whole person - physical, spiritual, psychological and social.

If mental distress is proving a danger to the patient, Adult Mental Health at Providence offers a comprehensive treatment program addressing a multiplicity of mental disorders. The course of treatment includes a thorough evaluation, admission to the Unit, and a team-designed plan for ongoing care. Areas of specialization include:
Depression
• Anxiety
• Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
• Drug and alcohol dependency
• Bipolar Disorder

Adolescent Mental Health works with adolescents and their families, affording a complete system of assessment, crisis intervention, and stabilization with referral to outpatient follow-up. Programs require a high level of communication and cooperation between the patient, family and caregivers. In such an open environment, positive and lasting therapeutic results can be achieved.
