Providence Alaska Medical Center has been named as one of the winners of the prestigious Press Ganey 2003 Compass Awards for outstanding performance improvement in the Ambulatory category of the Press Ganey survey.
According to Press Ganey, Providence was selected for this honor by increasing its mean score by an “impressive” 3.63 points over a two-year period. This is one of the top three improvement scores out of all the Press Ganey hospitals listed in this service category nationwide. Press Ganey gives this award to organizations that demonstrate a commitment to using patient satisfaction data to improve the quality of healthcare. We are very proud to say that Providence has improved in many categories of the Press Ganey survey in the past two years and that this award and the incredible successes we’ve seen in numerous areas are a true reflection of everyone’s commitment to patient satisfaction and quality healthcare in Alaska. Providence Alaska Medical Center is also the first facility in the entire Providence Health System to receive this award since Press Ganey started recognizing organizations for their improvement efforts in 1999. "The Ambulatory Procedure team has been working very hard to provide outstanding service to their patients, to really exceed their expectations and WOW them. Yet it doesn't stop there, many departments are a part of this achievement from admitting through discharge and all of the departments inbetween including all support staff. This also includes anyone who walks through the facility who takes the time to smile at our visitors or walk them to their destination. We were the first in the system to win a Press Ganey award and I know we can win more awards. We have the people who make a difference," says Val Tobin, Service Excellence Coordinator. Service excellence is a priority and focus for Providence and all facilities within the Alaska Region. It is wonderful to be recognized for our accomplishments in such a way, but we also recognize there are many great things happening each day to ensure our patients get the best care possible at our facilities. We are thankful for each of these efforts and encourage everyone to continue driving for excellence in everything they do. Congratulations once again to everyone associated with the achievement in Ambulatory Procedures. You are truly the Best of the Best.
