Rehabilitative programs are individualized to restore, maintain and promote the highest level of function, fitness and health. Physical and Occupational Therapists and their assistants are available to assist care planners and residents. They work closely with other care team members to help the patients and residents reach the highest degree of function and independence possible. All therapists are professionals educated at the college level and licensed by the state. They engage in an examination process that include taking the history, conducting a systems review, performing tests and measures to identify potential and existing problems upon which they can develop a plan of care and set anticipated goals for treatment. |
Occupational Therapists teach the skills of independent living, including dressing, personal hygiene, homemaking, and the use of adaptive equipment. They instruct in energy conservation, work simplification techniques and do cognitive perceptual retraining. Physical Therapists diagnose and manage movement dysfunction, restore and promote optimal wellness and fitness, prevent the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations and disabilities that may result from diseases, conditions, or injuries including pediatrics to geriatrics. Speech and Language Therapists assist in regaining speech and language skills, as well as cognitive aspects of communication such as attention, memory, problem solving and sensory awareness related to communication, swallowing, or upper aero digestive functions.
