Providence Health & Services Finalizes Acquisition of Tarzana Regional Medical Center


The newly renamed Providence Tarzana Medical Center is the fifth hospital in Los Angeles County operated by the not-for-profit health care system.

Providence Health & Services announced on September 19 that it has finalized its acquisition of Tarzana Regional Medical Center, closing the $89 million transaction.

Providence Health & Services Oregon Region Adds the Oregon Clinic to Cancer Services


Providence and The Oregon Clinic expect the transition of the medical oncologists and the staff to be completed by November 1, 2008.

In a move that will enhance care for cancer patients, oncologists and staff from The Oregon Clinic, Medical Oncology Division – four physicians, two nurse practitioners and 25 clinic staff – will be joining Providence Cancer Center in Portland, Oregon.

University of Great Falls Partners with Providence Health & Services to Start Bachelor-Completion Program for Nurses


Students from California, Washington, Oregon and Montana get the benefit of interactive class discussions and activities with instructors from across Providence Health & Services.

Classes began in August for a new program the University of Great Falls partnered with Providence Health & Services to develop – a primarily long-distance bachelor's degree in nursing for registered nurses already working in their field. The first participants, twenty-four registered nurses from hospitals all across Providence, will complete the program in 18 to 24 months.

New LifeGuard Crew Ready to Serve at Central Peninsula Hospital


Lifeguard Alaska touches down at the Central Peninsula Hospital helipad Monday morning. It was the first helicopter to be stationed at the hospital since December's Lifeguard crash in Prince William Sound.

The first helicopter to be stationed at Central Peninsula Hospital since the previous one crashed in Prince William Sound in December was greeted by hospital dignitaries and staff on August 25.

Providence Medford Medical Center Recycles Batteries in Green Move


Batteries that are used in medical equipment must be replaced after one use to avoid the chance that they may fail during a procedure

Batteries used in hospital medical equipment have to be replaced after each use to ensure they won't fail during a procedure. Providence Medford Medical Center now recycles these through Batteries Plus back to the community.
